I grew up in the neighborhood as a friend with Greg and when I was young, I was terrified of Mr. Severino. (He will always be Mr. Severino to me…never Sal). He had this stern way about him and always exuded a “military“ posture. I later heard the phrase “he runs a tight ship“ and I think it applied perfectly to Mr. Severino. However, as I got older and got to know him as an adult, I was always impressed by him. At barbecues, christenings and weddings he never miss the opportunity to come up to me and ask me how I was doing, how my family was doing and iinquire regarding my parents and sisters. He liked to talk about the old times in the neighborhood and he especially liked to talk about his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He was tremendously proud of all of them. He had a very dry sense of humor that I had come to enjoy, and he always made me laugh. I’m glad to have come to know him. I hope his family realizes how proud he is of all of them. Rest in peace.
