Obituary S. Antoinette Marie Cocco, RSMSister Antoinette Marie Cocco, age 89, a member of the Mid-Atlantic Community died peacefully on Sunday March 25, 2018 at McAuley Convent in Merion, Pennsylvania. Sister earned a B.A. in humanities from Villanova University, a B.S. in Liturgical Music from Manhattanville College, a M.L.M. in Music from the Catholic University of America and a M.A. in religious studies from St. Charles Seminary.Sister Antoinette Marie taught at all educational levels: elementary, secondary and college in the archdiocese of Philadelphia and the diocese of Richmond, VA. But it was her many years at Gwynedd Mercy University that enabled her to fully share her musical talents. In her role as music professor at the university, Sister founded the “Voices of Gwynedd”, a choral group that still performs today. In her later years, she ministered at Holy Cross Parish as pastoral minister, empowering others in their roles as lay ministers. In 2005, Sister Antoinette retired to McAuley Convent and joined the prayer guild there. Sister continued her ministry of hospitality to all who lived and visited McAuley Convent. It is fitting that she died on the feast of the Annunciation as she had great devotion to Our Blessed Mother.She is pre-deceased by her parents and her brother Anthony.Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 6:00 – 7:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 7:00 pm in the Chapel at the Convent of Mercy, 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion Station, PA 19066. Burial in the community cemetery will be March 29, 2018, 10 am. Contributions in Sister’s memory may be sent to the Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community at the above address.
