Soon, age 94, on April 14, 2024, of Broomall, PA.
Soon was born in Pyung Yang, Korea, as one of 9 siblings, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She graduated from Seoul University summa cum laude with a major in music. She spent her early adult life in Seoul Korea and immigrated to the United States with her two children in 1977.
Soon is loved and remembered by her son Peter, daughter Kyung Hee (Geoff), her grand children Angella (Wilson), Justin (Mika), Sam, Maddie, and Robert, and her great grandchildren Luna, Averie, and Trevor.
Soon lived in her home in Broomall for 43 years, and in the early 1990s, she began teaching piano to children in the neighborhood. Her teaching became well known in Broomall and the nearby area and it became “Mrs. Choi’s school of Music” She held 16 successful annual recitals. It was one of her proudest achievements and joy of her life. She treasured being visited by her grown students year after year. She was loved dearly.
Vitality, full of energy, big personality…that was Soon, and she was also known for her extreme generosity. She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was passionate about the world news, politics, and Korean dramas. She loved the latest fashion in everything, hats, sunglasses, shoes, etc. and was always impeccably dressed for all occasions.
Her favorite movie was “Gone with the wind”. Perhaps it is because she identified herself with the main character, Scarlett O Hara. She had similar qualities of strength, resilience, and independence. Her favorite quote by Scarlett was “After all, tomorrow is another day”
Her garden was a sacred place where she met with God every day. She faithfully prayed there especially for her children and grandkids. She is a beloved daughter of God and blessed now to be with the Lord.
Her beautiful legacy will live forever in her family.
Relatives and Friends are invited to her Funeral Service Saturday, April 20th 11:30 AM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.
