Theodore Carl “Ted” Anderson, Jr., age 88, of Havertown and formerly of Lansdowne Park – Darby, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 3, 2023 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Ted was employed with Happ Controls formerly Wico for 50 years as a traveling salesman in the vending industry, covering five states. Ted enjoyed boasting to family and friends that he drove a million miles in his lifetime with no accidents or tickets. After retiring at the age of 72, he then worked as a school bus driver for the Haverford Township School District for 8 years. This was Ted’s favorite job as he loved children.
Ted was a proud veteran of the US Army. Ted was a member of the Darby Social Bowling League for the past 40 years of which he was the Team Captain for the past 20 years. He coached his sons when they were children in the Darby Little League. This is where he met Bob Craskey who would go on to become one of his best friends.
Ted was an avid baseball fan. His idol was Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox who he was fortunate enough to have met in person and received his autograph when he was just 12 years old. Ted really enjoyed listening to music. His favorites were Neil Diamond, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Bob Segar.
Ted loved dogs and would greet every dog he came across on their walks. The hospital was kind enough to allow us to bring his beloved doggy, Holly, in to give him a kiss goodbye.
Ted made friends everywhere he went. He maintained close friendships with many of his childhood friends throughout his life, most of whom have sadly gone before him.
Ted loved deeply. He was truly devoted to his wife, children, and granddaughters. Nothing was ever too much to ask of him when it came to his family. Whatever was needed he was always there to help in any way he could.
