William Calvin Lloyd
Bill grew up in Roxborough, PA and spent summers in Ocean City, New Jersey. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English, he joined the Air Force. The years he spent stationed on the coast of England provided stories for a lifetime.
Upon his return to Philadelphia, he took a job with an insurance company and it was there that he met his match, Constance Garland Hirsch from St. David’s, PA. Bill and Connie married in 1963 and lived in center city Philadelphia before moving out to Malvern and then Phoenixville to raise their family. On weekends, Bill and Connie renovated historic farmhouses, acquired countless antiques and ran a hobby Christmas tree farm for the holidays.
Over the course of his lifetime, Bill read over 10,000 books, could find a quote for any occasion, and was a true cinephile, often seeking out obscure foreign films from libraries across the country. His wit and charm remained bright until the end.
Father of Heather (Ed), Evan, and Rhys (Jen), Uncle to Jennifer, Stephanie (John), Doug (Jean), and Trish (Drew). Grandfather of Sawyer (Arijana), Evan, and Campbell. He is also survived by his brother, Dick Lloyd (Sharon).
