William Joseph Kerwood, Jr. July 2, 1946 – August 29, 2025
William “Bill” Joseph Kerwood, Jr., age 79, of Prospect Park, Delaware County, passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2025.
Born in Southwest Philadelphia to the late William Joseph and Katherine Kerwood, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps following high school. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Denise, after meeting her at the former Chez Vous in Upper Darby. Together they shared 57 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Bill, affectionately known as “Billy Ladders,” gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter with Darby Fire Company #2 and was a talented painter and carpenter by trade. An eternal optimist who always saw the glass half full, he lived life with joy and passion. He loved music, a good cigar, summers in North Wildwood, tending to his plants, and cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s games.
Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, and Pop. He is survived by his loving wife Denise; their four children, Michelle (Kevin) Heffernan, Nicole (Geno) Reilly, Billy (Vicki) Kerwood, and Kevin (Bridget) Kerwood; his cherished grandchildren Brianna Paige, Nicole, Kevin, Steven (Heather), Kristy, Brielle, Kenzee, Billie, Taylor (Burkay), Alex, Kevin, Patrick, Mia, and Carly; and seven great-grandchildren. He was especially blessed by his great-grandson Geno, who has Williams Syndrome and brought him endless joy in a special way.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Visitation Saturday, September 6th from 9:30 to 11:45am followed by his Funeral Service at 12 noon at the D’Anjolell-Barone Memorial Home, 908 S. Providence Rd, Wallingford, PA 19086. Interment Private.
